The Micro-Invasive Treatment
We begin with thorough assessment and evaluation, focusing on symptom severity and the impacts on quality of life and function.
Treatment Overview
The Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatment process starts with a thorough assessment and evaluation, focussing on symptom severity and the impacts on quality of life and function. A detailed high-resolution ultrasound scan of the forearm and wrist is performed, mapping the structures traversing the carpal tunnel and assessing the median nerve for entrapment. An in depth discussion surrounding options for treatment then follows, including an individualised treatment plan and recommendations for achieving relief of symptoms.
The micro-invasive release procedure utilises precise and advanced ultrasound guidance to relieve pressure on the median nerve and minimising impacts on surrounding structures. The procedure requires no general anaesthetic, usually taking around 15 minutes per hand. After the procedure is completed, we provide detailed follow up advice and information to guide your recovery and rehabilitation journey.
About Micro-Invasive Carpal Tunnel Release
STEP 1
A micro-invasive tool is inserted under the carpal ligament, through a needle sized hole.
STEP 2
The carpal ligament is cut without impacting the skin.
STEP 3
After the carpal ligament has been cut, the microscopic instrument is removed and a light dressing is placed on the wrist.

“Beyond treatment, we strive to educate and support patients and clinicians and we are incredibly proud that we offer such advanced and minimally invasive treatment options."

In-Depth Look at the Patient Journey
Pre-Procedure
Before your procedure, it's important to have a thorough discussion with your doctor to ensure you understand the expected outcomes and any associated risks. You may be advised to avoid certain medications, such as blood thinners or anti-inflammatories, in the days leading up to your appointment, always follow your clinician’s specific guidance. On the day, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and arrange transport if you’ve been advised not to drive afterward.
Procedure
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed and checked in before your clinician reviews your medical history and asks you to fill out a consent form. The treatment area will be carefully cleaned and prepared. Depending on the procedure, a local anaesthetic may be applied to ensure your comfort, no general anaesthetic needed. The procedure itself will be carried out with care while you are awake, and your safety and well-being will be monitored throughout.
Post-Procedure
After your procedure, it’s normal to experience some mild redness, swelling, or discomfort in the treated area. These symptoms usually settle within a few days. You’ll be given specific aftercare instructions - please follow them closely, including the use of any dressings or topical treatments recommended. Avoid intense physical activity, sun exposure, or heat sources (like saunas or hot showers) if advised. If you experience anything unusual or have concerns during your recovery, don’t hesitate to contact the clinic. Your doctor will discuss the post-procedure care in greater detail with you on the day.
